What Is 第九条?

第九条 of the Educational Amendment of 1972 is the federal law prohibiting sex discrimination in educational institutions.

第九条 provides that:

• No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
• 第九条 prohibits sexual harassment, including sexual assault, occurring in connection with any academic, 运动, extracurricular, or other College program, regardless of the location.
• Pursuant to 第九条 and its regulations (34 C.F.R. 部分106.8), Marist College's 第九条 Coordinator is the designated college official with primary responsibility for coordinating the college's compliance with 第九条 and other federal and state laws and regulations relating to sex-based discrimination.

Responsibilities of the 第九条 Coordinator

• Promotes the creation of policies, procedures and notifications designed to ensure compliance with 第九条;
• Oversees implementation of compliance (grievance) procedures, including investigation and disposition of complaints;
• Answers questions and provides guidance about 第九条 compliance and the College's related policies and procedures;
• Is a liaison to the state and federal agencies that enforce 第九条;
• Helps ensure the campus community and College employees are adequately trained and educated on 第九条 compliance responsibilities; and
• Monitors all other aspects of the College's 第九条 compliance.
